Brother Brown and I will be refighting the 4th Battle of Kawanakajima on Saturday 4 June at NICon. My venerable Dixons will be the Uesugi and Brown-san's shiny new Perrys the wicked Takeda.
At this stage the forces deployed will be similar to the actual day- 13,000 Uesugi v 8,000 Takeda with some proportion of 12,000 more Takeda appearing in the Uesugi rear late in the battle. My job will be to break the deployed Takeda force before the main force arrives.
Rules are DBR 2.0, with the following modifications:
pike and shot do not provide each other with flank support (this was not yet part of Japanese doctrine);
pike fight maximum of two ranks (long spear armed Ashigaru did not fight in very deep formations like early European armies);
deployment will be as defined or allowed in the scenario.
Forces will be based loosely around my own Japanese Samurai lists. Briefly cavalry are Si(O) except for Takeda who have the option of Ln(F). Ashigaru are Pk(F) or Pk(O).
